Kindall tells great stories, but I agree his game analysis lacks. And Kindall was a great coach at Arizona and won the 3 National Championships in baseball Arizona has ('76, '80 and '86). Arizona was one out away from going to the CWS in 1992 under Kindall but blew it. 11 guys were drafted off the 1992 team and 10 left, leaving Kindall a very young team to coach in 1993. To say the '93 struggled is being kind, and by '94, Kindall had lost the passion to coach.
I think Kindall was effected by Coach Brock's illness and too early departure. Brock and Kindall were fierce rivals on the field, but had a great mutual respect that ultimately lead to a friendship off the field. I think after '94, Kindall was reassigned to another post in the athletic department so he could earn full retirement, but he was happy to be able to spend more time with his grandchildren.
