Sun Devil fans,
I spent the last week on vacation in Mexico. I wasn't able to watch much of the College World Series. I did get to watch the game with Texas on Friday night, what a heart breaker! I feel bad for the Lambson kid, he pitched so well for ASU all season long. The only thing I can say is, if you throw enough strikes, then every once in a while somebody is going to take you deep...that's baseball.
I know many Sun Devil fans are saying "Are we ever going to win another CWS?" Well, its not easy to win it all. Yes, I know that schools like Fresno State and Oregon State have done it. It takes talent, luck, and timely hitting and pitching to get it done. It just seems like ASU has come up a bit short the last two trips to Omaha when it comes to getting the timely hit (Texas this year), or making the timely pitch to get the out (Texas this year and UC-Irvine in 2007).
One thing is for sure, Coach Murphy has this program on the right track! This is coming from one of his biggest critics just six years ago. Coach Murphy has led the Sun Devils to the College World Series three of the last five years. They've finished third in 2005, tied for fifth in 2007, and tied for third in 2009. I'm convinced that he will get this program "over the hump" and win a CWS in the next two to three years. Of course, there's always a chance that he may be like Coach Martin at Florida State and never win one, but at least he has ASU back in the hunt most every season to win it all at Omaha.
I'm very proud of the team for how they played at Omaha this past week. They had a couple of heart breaking losses to Texas, but that's baseball. Go Sun Devils!
