#1: He doesn't throw hard enough to warrant a first round pick
#2: He doesn't have a frame that has the potential to produce tons of big league innings, the only comparable major leaguer to him is Jamie Moyer and he is by far an exception to the rule, Spence throws a bit harder than Moyer but touching 87 is not something that's going to jump out at scouts
#3: He will lose all his negotiating leverage as a senior. Kipnis will probably get more money this year than he would have got last year but he pretty much has to take what Cleveland is willing to spend on him. Spence will have to do the same next year and he would only jump up one round (3 to 2) at best. Kipnis jumped 2 (4 to 2).
