Ok, I have no hate for LL, and at this point, am still marginally in her camp, however this conspiracy stuff is getting a bit hilarious. So if we are suggesting that LL (and I'm not saying Stucklikearat did, but I've seen others on the Football board suggest it, and some of you might feel this way) fired Murphy without cause before sanctions were brought down, (thus ensuring we have to pay him $600k that we don't have to throw away), in order to avoid sanctions, can we rationally evaluate that?

First, why not wait until the sanctions come down, when you can fire him with cause (and this is an assumption here, but I would think there would be clause in his contract that said with cause firing would result in a much lower payout, so if anyone knows differently, please let me know). Then you'd avoid paying him all or most of the $600k still due him.

Second, if your answer is to pre-emptively show the NCAA that we're cleaning our house, then ask yourself, has that ever worked in the past? Yes, nearly every coach who got into this type of trouble with the NCAA in any sport was sacked, but when did that ever "ease the punishment" from the NCAA as has been suggested by more than one poster?

If I'm wrong about any of this, I'd be happy to hear that, but the arguments for firing Murph on these grounds don't seem to add up? Seems more like people trying to make sense out of something that doesn't make sense.
