: There are some people on this board that do not have a clue what they're talking about.
: Stanford is not bound by the 11.7 NCAA scholarship limit for baseball because it's a private school?
: Maybe you should let the Stanford coaching staff know that because they'd be thrilled to find that out.
: Stanford has an inherent advantage only in the fact that, due to its academic reputation, it attracts great students that happen to be great baseball players as well. Stanford's huge endowment allows it to offer more academic based aid than a publicly funded school may have
available.
. . . . . SORRY ABOUT LOCATION OF MY REPLY . . .
I'll grant you the fact I might have missed
on facilities, I assumed that our overall base-
ball related facilities were good enough to be
one of many determining factors that would
influence a recruits decision. I never said
that we had the best facilities. So from your
post, I am to assume that you feel our facilities
have absolutely no positive effect upon a recruits decision. All of the other baseball schools
have better facilities?
I will not change my opinion on the weather
being a factor. For some recruits that play
baseball in the Northeast, Midwest, Northwest and even the South to a certain degree, weather is a major factor. Why do you think major league baseball has spring training in Arizona and Flordia, its the weather. In many instances the
schools located in states like Arizona and Florida play more games and that is another determining factor for some recruits. Weather
and facilities are just two of many factors
that, when put together with others I listed,
Make ASU one of the most desired places to
play college baseball in the country. I would
have to say maybe your post, as far as these two factors are concerned turns out to be the
foolish post.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
: Another foolish post mentions weather and facilities as one of the drawing points for players and a potential coach to ASU.
: You have obviously never seen any of the stadiums in the SEC, ACC, or Big 12 or the new stadium in Eugene or even the renovated stadium in Corvalis for that matter.
: Packard Stadium is a great place to watch a college baseball game for one reason, the product on the field.
: Weather and facilities do not attract players. The coaching staff, the potential for playing time, and the ability to prepare for professional baseball do.
: Coaches also believe there is one thing a lot more important than weather and facilities. The talent base in the state.
