: But remember, this was ASU's second major violation in 5 years, which, if my understanding is correct, gives the NCAA the ability to issue the death penalty! Now that would have been bull. One year post season ban and 3 years probation? Seems about right to me, and ASU should thank their lucky stars it wasn't worse for having 2 Lack of Institutional Controls in 5 years.
ASU needs to do a better job with their AD compliance. Too much blabbing about how we do this, do that to educate our AD personnel, players. Well, guess what - we keep getting in trouble. Sure, we are accommodating and helpful when the NCAA crashes the ICA building, but 9 major infractions = more than any other NCAA school. Disgusting. The 2005 major infraction was, if I recall, due to an ASU AD "compliance" officer giving Loren Wade extra money. WTF! How about policing the rules (like you are being paid to do) instead of breaking them!
IMO this punishment by the NCAA has as much to do with our past transgressions as it does anything else.
