We don't have the stable of arms that they do IMO. Their 3rd, 4th, 5th guys out of the pen all had solid stuff (slider, heater, curve thrown for strikes). Righty on righty, lefty on lefty... Garrido was managing it like a MLB game today. I don't see that type of depth or ability in our bullpen. We do have better hitters, though. However, you know what they say about better pitching vs hitting in the playoffs...
I really hope ASU can win and it is possible but I have flashbacks of Mitchell Lambson giving up 2 hrs in the bottom of the 9th again. 81 mph by your closer works against a lot of teams but not Texas in Austin. Sorry, but this series is going to be very tough to win.
: the historical reference is interesting for trivia buffs.
: But the Big 12 was down this year; the PAC 10 was "typically" tough.
: I have every confidence the Devils can take care of business in Austin.
: UT finished 3rd in the (weak) Big 12 conference tourney, and travelled out of state for only 2 non-conference games - a trip for 3 games to Hawaii, and a trip to Corpus Christi to play TxA&M Corpus.
: This is not a dominating team that ASU is facing. This series will be a challenge, but totally within our reach.
: In the "objective" ratings - Boyd's rpi and isr, etc. - ASU is consistently rated higher. SOS? UT is 73rd, and ASU is 5th. UT didn't play any non-conference teams of merit - other than Stanford (in Austin).
: I say, bring 'em on!
