: I would think former ASU catcher, Don Wakamatsu would be an attractive candidate. Former major league player, manager, and now, I believe, bench coach for the KC Royals.

: I have no idea if he has any interest in the job, but I think it would be a great hire.

:: Why? Do you think that b/c he played in the big leagues that automatically makes him qualified to be a college baseball coach? If that was the case then San Diego State would have about 5 national championships in the last 10 years b/c Tony Gwynn is their HC. Gwynn even said himself he had no idea how difficult it would be to build the program at SDSU, which was not a bad program under Jim Dietz but wasn't a consistent winner, into a program that was consistently making trips to the postseason. Just b/c a guy played in the big leagues doesn't mean he is gonna be a good college coach. Not saying Wakamatsu couldn't be the perfect fit but it takes more than being a big leaguer.
