first - throughout the game, ASU has survived, despite poor play. then the 9th inning. geez - do they practice infield play?

second - per Boyd's World, and not counting tonight's game, to get into the top 45 of RPI teams, ASU needs to win about 22 of remaining 28 games. The mix depends on winning home vs. away. the hell with qualifying for the tournament - ASU is destined to have another losing season.

but bottom line - absent an incredible win streak and domination of the PAC foes and remaining NC games (of which there is NO indication can be accomplished), this season - even if ASU has a winning record - will be a second consecutive - non-qualifying - year.

what the hell?

let this sink in - in the years preceding CTS - specifically, the Tim Esmay years:

2013 - 37 - 22 - 1
2012 - 36 - 20
2011 - 43 - 18
2010 - 52 - 10

OK - I don't like the gradual trend, and perhaps it was time to pull the plug on Esmay, but who picked CTS?

I watch these games - I don't know what they do during practice. do the pitchers even practice covering first on a slow ground ball to the first baseman? do the coaches hit ground balls to the infield for situation simulation?

what the hell. Does Ray Anderson even know what is going on here? Was he watching the DBacks or something?
