: not here to crucify...rather, I was hoping you could shed some light on these "mildly althetic" recruits coming in. aside from Coy's youtube highlight video, I've seen none of their games, nor have I heard anything about their athletic abilities. perhaps you could fill us in on their specific weaknesses, seeing as you are the board's talent scout
: : I'll probably get crucified for criticizing Herb, but I wonder if there has ever been a college team that went an entire season without playing a second of man-to-man defense? When a team has obviously spent several days disecting your defensive scheme you have to give them another look. More so you have to have played multiple looks during the season to make them prepare for different things. I know that Herb is smart, but sometimes smart people can be stubborn as well. It's fine to play the matchup zone as your primary defense, but any intelligent person should know that you have to make adjustments. I think it's a copout to say that ASU did not have the talent to play man-to-man this year. All we have coming in next year are two mildly athletic 3-star players. We are not going to get more athletic. Which means if that were the excuse this year it's going to be the same next year.
