that rivalries mean more to the fans than to coaches. This is not the first time this has happened. Pitino went from Kentucky, to the NBA and now is at Louisville. There are exceptions of course, I could never see Kush coaching at au under any circumstance. Schembechler at Ohio State, Coach K at Carolina, etc. By an large though, coaches do not develop a sense of long term committment like fans do. They are hired to be fired and are always looking out for what's best for themselves. Which is not a bad thing at all.
