: Well, with the football season on it's way both the WBB team & SB team are doing individual drills, actual basketball practice is still a month away but Lindy's and Athlon have released their WBB top 25 with ASU rated 15th on Lindy's and 16th on Athlon's list.
: UConn, Stanford & Ohio St are the top 3 in that order.Stanford, ASU & Cal appear to be the top 3 in the Pac 10.Stanford returns most of their starters who made it to the Championship game against UConn last season. So,I can see all the excitement among all their fans, apparently they are going to run this year because some of their fans have been posting that "nobody" will be able to stay with them this year! I guess they forgot about UConn.BTW Stanford right now is in Italy on a tour.I swear I read that the Pac 10 had banned those type of trips along with banning the printing of Media Guides, but who knows Stanford is Stanford you know!
: ASU has cleared up it's schedule, they will have a round robin tournament in Hawaii playing Hawaii on Nov 27 and East Tenn St on Nov 28.ASU will also play Baylor on Dec 19 and Texas A&M on Dec 20 in Las Vegas, games will be played at the South Point Casino & Spa resort.
: ASU will also make 5 appearances on the Fox Sports Network playing Oregon St at home on Jan 16,at Az on Jan 24,at Cal on Jan 30,Washington St at home on Feb 6, and Stanford at home on Feb 25, there will also be 3 wildcard games late in the season.
: ASU will be led by 5th yr senior Danielle Orsillo, last year coming back from a knee injury she struggled early due to her lack of conditioning but what a difference a year makes, she is in the best shape of her career.I have never seen Danielle look in such good shape.Alex Earl is also in tip top shape,I think Alex will be the starting PG and will surprise many with her play, she has just been outstanding in the early workouts!
: One player to look out for is JC transfer Tenaya Watson, she's a big body who will be getting alot of mins at SG, along with incoming frosh Deja Mann.Deja is a outstanding shooter with a great touch, she has a beautiful jumper.
: Low post players, Kali Bennett impressed me with her conditioning, she's in good shape and should get alot of mins but I expect Kayli Murphy & Becca Tobin to be the odds on favorites to start in the paint.
: Softball team are also doing individual workouts at the softball stadium, they will begin team workouts on Wed, Sept 16.ASU will begin it's Fall schedule on Fri Oct 2nd against Mesa CC at 4 pm and Palomar CC at 6 pm, they will also play Palomar CC the following day, Sat Oct 3, time to be determined because of the football game.Coach Myers has made numerous position changes so it will be interesting to see how everything shakes out!
Sand -
Great update.
Couple of questions on hoops -- where does Joy Burke fit in, or does she? I always thought Charli would want to continue to bring Becca off the bench.
Also, I thought the transfers from CAC were brought in to handle the point. If Alex is ready, I'm comfortable with that, but it is a surprise, considering how little she played last year.
Thanks for the update...
