a "fly-by fan" but if you think holding your tongue on ASU basketball for the past several years makes someone a fly-by fan than you need to adjust your calculus.
Scoring 9 points in a D1 basketball game, any game, anywhere, is just sad. I have been a fan of Sendek both on a professional and a personal level. However, there is no excuse for a 9 point half in D1 basketball.
His offense simply does not work with two players on the court who are not athletic and cannot drive to the hole. The result is that we simply run a (slow) motion offense at the top of the key. Unless we drive and kick, our offense does not work. With these two players on the court at the same time it completely breaks down.
Sendek's offense demands that the 2 and 3 be very athletic with the ability to shoot and drive to the hole. While he knows more about BB than I ever will this is obvious to anyone with an ounce of BB knowledge.
I wish the team well and appreciate their hard work. I appreciate the coaches and all they have done for the program. However, continuing to do the same thing over and over again is crazy. If a group of D1 players scores 9 points in the first half of a game they should all sit the entire second half. Send a message that this is not acceptable.
Hey, BTW, our football team plays in the same altitude in Utah. Last time we were there in 2013 we won. I think you can make all the excuses you want for scoring 9 points in a half of D1 basketball game, bit it is simply unacceptable.
: you should know that UTAH has one of the most talented, and athletic teams in NCAA. Plus, when you are playing in SLC, there is the altitude factor.
: 71 - 39 - vs. UCLA in SLC
: 79 - 55 - vs. USC in SLC
: 74 - 49 - vs. Colo in SLC
: 75 - 59 - vs. Furd in SLC
: 77 - 56 - vs. UDub in SLC
: 76 - 61 - vs. Cal in SLC
: and there are many more.
: their 5 losses are to No. 16 SD St. (away), No 10 Kan (away), No. 10 au (away), UCLA (away) and ORE (away).
: I expect Utah to blow au out of the gym, and to make a deep run in the PAC and NCAA tourneys.
: Do I think ASU played well? no - but we knew this was a rebuilding year, and we have beaten both au and UCLA. go figure.
: ASU did not give up, although they were clearly over matched. the better metric will be to see how they respond vs. Colo.
