I don't think we should be that surprised by the poor, inconsistent free-throw shooting. If you watch our players shoot, most of them are simply not good shooters. Bad form, bad rotation on the ball, not smooth strokes. If Rob Edwards struggled at the free-throw line that would be mental. When Dort struggles it is because he has way to long of a stroke and thus consistency will always be a problem for him. I coach basketball and the one thing I can do is shoot. We have three guys in our normal rotation that don't make me cringe when I watch them shoot. Edwards has a great stroke. Cherry shoots well too and as he gains confidence will be fine. Lawrence is in a slump right now but his stroke is pretty clean also. Lake for a big guy is fine as well. And surprisingly White has drastically improved from last year. If you notice he now starts higher and has more of a short flick than that elongated push he used last year. So he has potential to be a 70% or so shooter. Actually Remy is okay, but still short arms them sometimes. But he could be a 75-80% guy. Cheatham way too much arc and way too much arm action starting the ball from behind his ear. I never expect any of his shots to go in. Dort need a lot of work on his form. It is not fluid. When he is in a groove he can make some shots, but if he has trouble finishing at the rim and his confidence isn't there he struggles. At best with his current form I would say he could be a 70% FT shooter when everything else is going his way. But when he is struggling in other areas, closer to 55-60%.
: Princeton played man to man most of the game, if not the entire game. Which makes that loss even more frustrating because we had better athletes. And yes, we should have dumped it low more often. We opened the second half with the dribble weave, but it was fast and moving. And we looked like we had life. Then we slowed down again.
: KD says we practice free throws a lot. Beginning to believe it's a mental thing now.
