We shoot a low percentage because we take poor shots. Remy shooting 51% I am pretty certain is not sustainable with the number of difficult low percentage shots he takes. We are consistently low in assists per basket because so much of our offense is one on one, rather than ball movement. And Hurley seems to only look at results and not symptoms. When Remy takes a bunch of bad, low percentage shots and they go in we hear "Remy had a great game, he really carried us". And then when he takes the same bad shots, but they don't go in we hear "Remy didn't have his normal game". There seems to be no realization that low percentage shots breeds inconsistency.

There really seems to be no accountability for taking poor shots either. Since the players have no fear of losing playing time for putting up bad shots, they keep doing it. And it is this cycle. I am not sure of the problem is impatience, not executing, or having a bad system. But it one of them, and it has been consistent every year under Hurley. When we play good defenses we take bad shots. Sometimes we have a good night and enough of them go in to win. But it is not a consistent sustainable approach for success.

On a positive note our defense has been really good. And SF is less patient than even we are. They're shot selection was abysmal. But this is the new era of "shitty" basketball. You just chuck up thirty 3's and hope enough of them go in for you to win. There is no valuing possessions it seems out side of Virginia and a few other select places. Everything is about how cool can I look cool going 1 for 5 taking shots that would have gotten me benched 10-20 years ago.

Okay, vent over. . . for today.

: Glad to escape SF with the W. But, holy cow, lotta bricks being thrown up by ASU. We need another reliable scorer if we're going to survive the Pac schedule and make it to the dance.
