So ASU is 11th out of 12 teams in the PAC-12 in 3 point shooting. Yet they are tied for 2nd in number of attempts per game. Seems like an exercise in futility to continually do something you are not good at rather than take advantage of your strengths. ASU is not going to win many 3 point shooting contests. Especially when CBH refuses to play Valtonen and Thomas.
Shooting is generally very easy to predict. Good shooters look good when they shoot (Shawn Marion being one noted exception). ASU has 4 players that have the "look" of a shooter. . . Edwards, Cherry, Valtonen, and Thomas. None of the others will ever be better than low 30's. So I am not sure why we keep shooting 22 three's per game, especially when two of those 4 basically aren't playing any more.
I believe that ASU shoots much lower than they're capable of due to lack of offensive flow and selfishness. I also think that, at best, they are middle of the pack in three point shooting. So this is not an area that they should be near the top in number of attempts.
