The NBA drives this as always. I don't think the problem is mediocre talent as much as it is the NBA game becoming so superstar driven that at the lower levels all kids are coached to do now is shoot 3's, drive to the basket, and if they are tall and athletic enough, dunk. That is the entire game in the NBA. There is no running of offenses. It is all iso and spacing. That works when you have elite athletes across the board. But it doesn't work anywhere that isn't the NBA.

But because all these kids think they are playing in the NBA that is what they work on. So they come to college without the fundamentals they used to have. Shots that used to get you pulled from games are now old hat (i.e. 35 foot set shot 3's early in the shot clock). Even the best players don't value possessions because in the NBA they don't. It is all about whether their next amazing shot can get on ESPN. I stopped watching the NBA years ago when it started to look like a pick-up game at the park. And now it is permeating the rest of the basketball world.

: Seems like the Pac is mired in mediocrity this year. Well, it's apparently not just a Pac12 problem.
