Someone discussed how Verge couldn't cover Tyger. How about Jaquez on Verge? That 1st half charging call was a joke. McLean was trying to say that Jaquez had good defensive position. He turned sideways and there was a good six inches between them when the 160-pound Verge "knocked down" the much larger Jaquez. If you look at how badly everyone was getting beat by Verge that was the only way to get him out of the game on the offensive end. Poor calls all night led to a decided 21-13 foul advantage for UCLA when both teams play physical man-to-man in a tight ball game (no one was committing fouls to send people to the line). Led to two significant ASU players to foul out early. Meanwhile, UCLA had one guy with 4! Usually the more guard-oriented team gets the calls on drives. Not Thursday night! I guess the three zebras were intimidated by the Pauley mystique!
