Fans need to stop looking at results only and look at the process. This game saw much improvement on the offensive end. We assisted on 22 of our 28 baskets. That is 79%. By comparison we were assisting on 43% prior to that. If we keep playing that way, we will win our share of games. As long as we defend better in the half court. Our defensive issues are not due to poor effort as much as poor scheme as I see it. We are overly aggressive on the perimeter, which will result in turnovers on the good side, and penetration on the bad. Problem is that we don't have the rim protectors to compensate when the opposition penetrates. I would like to see us play more of a pack-line type defense that defends shots not tries to create turnovers. We do have deficiencies up front that are made much worse with Graham and Cherry out. And due to Hurley waiting so long to implement these offensive changes we suffered bad losses that may end up being too much to overcome when it comes to getting an at-large berth in the tournament. Not to mention we have seen these momentary improvements on offense in the past only to revert to hero ball again. Problem is Hurley seems to only make adjustments and improvements after we lose multiple games.
: I am very disappointed in what was once a very hopeful season. I know it has been "strange", to say the least, but it has been for all teams, not just the Devils. Last nights game was just plain terrible, and I just don't see any improvement in the future. I think Hurley has "lost" the team. Very sad for everyone that loves ASU basketball. GO DEVILS!!!
