Bill Self coaches the Kansas basketball team to play like a symphony orchestra. Remy is an innovative jazz artist. This is like having Miles Davis play first chair trumpet in the Philharmonic.
“Remy’s been a guy that is used to having the ball in his hands and I’m trying to get it out of his hands more,” Self said. “So it is an adjustment. . . . . “So I don’t think he’s even remotely comfortable playing the way we want to play and I don’t think he can see yet how he can benefit from playing the way we want to play, even though I thought he did a really nice job the second half tonight.”
FYI, Remy attempted no shots in the first half. He showed a bit of Old Remy in the 2nd half driving the lane and hitting jumpers for 15 points. But no 30 foot 3-pointers. Bill Self would have had a brain aneurysm.
