I work in media, as you know Gad, and I read all of our viewer emails every day. The stuff people cook up about my company is unbelievable.
The fact is, media companies, especially newspapers, are more short-staffed than ever. We're all struggling just to get our product to the street on time. Most lack both the time and the cohesion to be conspiring, especially against the hometown team, which would only hurt their sales even more. If there were a mandate to show favoritism, it wouldn't be in a direction that alienates a core group of readers.
It would take a lot more evidence to convince me that there's anything going on beyond the possibility of a few biased individuals.
