Based on information generally available, Sumlin was the better pick. He had an outstanding record at Houston and while his record was not great at Texas A and M, considering the difficulty presented by the SEC Conference, his performance was not bad. On the other hand most of the "experts" were convinced that ASU had amistake in hiring Herm. How do you explain what happened. UofA had the easier schedule and a Heisman candidate QB. ASU had a difficult schedule and a QB who many(not me) felt was only OK. I have spent "mucho" time reading posts on the Wild Cat Board to find an explanation for Sumlin's poor performance including recruiting(good numbers of commits but based on the "stars" weak.) One apparently informed poster on the Wild Cat Board spoke of "rumors" without explanation. Does any one have an answer?
