I'm not sure that Fresno State has that big of an impact on USC and UCLA's recruiting. However, it appears that Oregon has gone into the L.A. area and cleaned up. That is a big surprise to me.
A major concern also has to be that the Pac-12 South is very weak. You could make a serious argument that there were 5 teams in the Pac-12 North this year that were better than any team in the Pac-12 South. Washington, WSU, Oregon, Stanford, and California all had pretty good teams. Now, you can also argue that Utah beat both Stanford and Oregon, so maybe that statement is wrong.
My point is that Pac-12 South was weak/ very winnable for ASU this season. A 5-4 conference record when you beat USC, UCLA, Arizona, and Utah is a big time missed opportunity, in my opinion. Like I said earlier, I expect both USC and UCLA to get better. ASU needs to take advantage of not playing Washington and Stanford the next couple of years and win the Pac-12 South. Go Sun Devils!
