Yes that must be more accurate. I also appreciate your main point that Cristobal invaded the strongholds while we seemed to be content with recovering scraps we missed for a few years.
My thing about Eugene's recruiting infrastructure kind follows onto your point about Cristobal. That infrastructure can capitalize on his effort and ability. Sometimes a winning strategy is to target the giant's weaknesses, sometimes its strengths. Success over the weaknesses doesn't always take down the giant.
GCU does the same thing to the community college system. My wife works at MCC and those GCU recruiters shower students with lanyards, school supplies, pizza, people onsite, etc. ASU's effort seems to say "well... you know where to find us - the internet or drive to the campus and find someone, etc."
I was hoping some of this new revenue the school was taking in by leasing space formerly used by parking lots, could be used for some of that type of stuff, but someone over there managed to rise above their own level of competence.
