I am never going to defend the Cardinals, or the Bidwills, but IIRC, the "deal" for joint use of SDS, provided that advertising revenue would be shared. ASU pocketed the revenue from a number of advertising entities - who had banners or signs at the stadium - which were displayed during both NCAA and NFL games.
Seems to me that ASU was at fault for failing to live up to the deal, and essentially, sold advertising which was displayed during NFL games.
I also think the litigation was settled, and likely, some economic consideration was paid to the Cards.
So - timing the litigation following the vote was clearly planned - but there had been months of negotiations between the parties leading up to the filing of the lawsuit.
My problem with the Cards and the Bidwills, is how pathetically awful they have been - only 6 winning seasons in the 31 since arriving in Arizona.
