maybe I am saying the same thing - but this is like campaign finance reform.....nearly impossible to monitor complete compliance, and any new rules are simply opportunities to find new work arounds.
If Jim Click wants to allow players to drive new cars for "demonstration" purposes, sort of hard to police, unless you are in the room when the arrangement is being made.
but there is a significant difference between, "gifting" a new sweat shirt, and making available a new car for a year, or $100,000.
Pigs get fat, and hogs get slaughtered.
In Haller's recent article about Ned Wulk, I think it was Lionel Hollins who described when Hollins's grandmother (IIRC) passed away, and Wulk found a way to get bus money so Hollins could go home......to Alabama(?), or somewhere. Hollins said they thought it was likely a violation, but then, who would sanction the act of charity.
