Remember when Bill Walsh signed Renaldo Nehemiah to stretch the field for San Francisco? In one of Nehemiah’s first games, an Atlanta player Kenny Johnson crushed him on a high pass and left Renaldo for dead in the middle of the field. (Old school rules allowed that back in the day. Some teams even handed out game hit bonuses.).
Of course Nehemiah was built like a gazelle and Metcalf is build like Batman. If Metcalf just learns to run a fly and a skinny post, he will keep 2 DBs occupied all game. And his speed will dictate that his defender will play off, leave a simple dig route as an automatic completion.
