Texas A & M is now in the SEC, not the Big 12. I tend to agree with Ocotillo Sun Devil. That game at North Carolina was a total joke. ASU had 16 penalties, UNC had 3. Every time ASU got into the red zone, the very next play was a holding penalty against ASU. The only exception to that was a brutal offensive pass interference penalty against ASU, when it should've been called defensive pass interference against UNC. The referees were so bad that Bill Dooley (who used to be the head coach at UNC in the 1960's & 70's) actually apologized to Don Bocchi, the head of the Sun Angels, during the 4th quarter. It was that obvious/ bad.
ASU had something like 600 yards of offense, UNC had 330 yards, yet the game came down to ASU having to score on the last play of the game, a pass from Andrew Walter to Skyler Fulton, to win it 33-31. At least the referees let the teams play the last 36 seconds of the game, so ASU could drive 61 yards, yes, 61 yards in the last 36 seconds to win it.
Dirk Koetter didn't even shake North Carolina's head coach's hand after the game. Coach Koetter said the "forgot to" in the excitement of the moment of scoring on the last play of the game. I think Dirk was just using that as an excuse because he knows he and him team got screwed that day. ASU should've won that game by at least two touchdowns, not two points. I said at that time that I hope we never schedule another home and home with an ACC opponent.
With every major conference football game being televised today, I don't know if a "home job" like the one ASU received that day would be possible, or not? I guess I would be okay, after 16 years, with scheduling another home & home with an ACC opponent, but I would totally understand ASU not wanting to do it, also. Go Sun Devils!
