Lewis said in a statement. ďArizona State and Tempe have always been special to me. When I was a young coach I came to visit (ASU defensive coaches) Willie Shaw and Bob Padilla back in 1983. Dirk Koetter, who is one of my closest friends, was the head coach there, (ASU athletic director) Ray Anderson, who Iíve known for more than 20 years, used to represent me, and my daughter (Whitney) went to school there.ď

Agree that there is little downside to hiring another NFL friend of Edwards. But what is the expected outcome of the hire?

Every time I see such a hire, I remember a conversation with a McKinsey consultant at my last company, a fast growing biotech company. The consultant warned of piling personnel into an organization before assessing the specific organizational shortcomings that needed to be solved. He said that throwing people at a problem becomes less efficient to the point of reaching critical mass. Then each additional hire actually detracts from the groups operation. Letís hope the 3 - man football administration, the coaching staff, the growing football front office and any contract help are all working together as one well oiled machine.
