I agree that players must play. However, Tracy has done a horrible job managing his pitchers for the past 5 years.
This year, with several new arms on the team he did a piss poor job developing pitchers early in the year. We played a bunch of pansies and every arm on the team should have been seeing time to develop them for P12 league play and post season.
Tracy is coaching to save his job this season. Our early schedule is an embarrassment but should have been an indicator of things to come. We were giving up far too many runs against piss poor competition. Our bats won those games by overcoming our pitching, fielding and fundamentals.
We are not a fundamentally sound team and seem to lack the ability to execute a game plan, should one actually exist. We have some very good talent on the team (that is one of the only things I will give Tracy credit for) but we do a very bad job coaching it.
Marsh did not have one of his best games today but how much of that is due to poor coaching vs. execution? Coaching includes pitch calling, fundamentals, knowing the other teams line up, etc. I find it incredible that when asked about what he did during the rain out day vs. Cal, Tracy said he caught up on Netflix. Wow! Let that set in for awhile. Can you imagine CHE, CBH, or any other coach actually saying that he was watching movies all day/night instead of watching more film on their opponent?
Tracy is in over his head. He has underperformed with a team that has some talent in year 5. He may be the most "self-assured" person I have ever heard speak. It is time to end this sad chapter in ASU baseball and hire a knowledgeable, humble, hard working baseball coach.
