.. than getting justice for the injured. All you have to do is turn on the TV after midnight, and you see ads for one class action after another, and we all get the class action mailers. Hernia mesh, RoundUp, Mesothelioma, etc etc etc.

It wasn't very long ago when cigarette companies could advertise, and lawyers couldn't.

Some lawyers spend all their waking hours looking for a class action opportunity against some, any, deep pocketed employer. The participants make pennies, the company settles for some large amount, and the lawyer clean up.

There are many bright and honest lawyers out there, but the class action industry and ability for lawyers to advertise has made us a very litigeous society, and greatly pushes up the costs of doing business in the US, increases incentives to offshore jobs, manufacturing, etc.

As Shakespeare famously said, "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers". :-)

Re: the Wells naming rights, I understand they did have a sweetheart deal. Whomever negotiated it at ASU was not a very good negotiator They have been trying to upgrade it for a while, and it sounds like they finally did.

They have also talked with several company's about Sun Devil Stadium, some in the insurance space. I suspect the State Farm signage visible from the stadium makes that a harder sale. I don't know the details, but I suspect ASU got out negotiated very effectively on State Farm signage as well, giving them some great free advertising in SDS.
