I don't mind seeing a young guy smiling and having fun while playing a game. His demeanor is always consistent. Screaming and pouting when the team is losing doesn't really help in my opinion. It is a fact that when a person becomes emotional they make much worse decisions. This is because high emotional activity in the brain lowers the capacity of the pre-frontal cortex which is central to one's decision making efficacy. Take my wife . . . PLEASE. He IS cool, calm, and collected and I think that does help him a great deal.
I'll say this unequivocally right here and now. This kid will end up being one of the best ASU signal callers of all time - if not THE best. That is barring injuries or early entrance into the NFL. He's got that IT factor. What he's doing already as a skinny true freshman with very limited pass protection and under constant and extreme duress is nothing short of amazing to me. We are lucky to have him. I've said this before. He's only had two picks on the year and one of those doesn't really count because it was a last second Hail Mary with nothing to lose and everything to gain. I like the way he avoids taking brutal hits by sliding or contorting his body, his restraint in tucking and running, his scrambling ability, and his ability to throw quickly and accurately all over the field, often making split second decisions while running for his life. I have zero doubt that he will get better with experience and consistency with coaching (Likens staying around). I think his upside is unlimited. That is my story and I'm sticking to it.
I am thrilled that Jayden chose to be a Sun Devil and at what he's demonstrated so far. He's got a great Sparky smile and I never get tired of seeing it.
