My point was that with five opening home games against the likes of Washington, North Texas, Nebraska (back-to-back defending national champions), Oregon and Boise State (before they were good), we could not get a real sellout until we were 6-0 and playing USC. The unfortunate thing is that we only had one more home game left against California. Most of our local fan base failed to truly support (by being in the seats) one of the most compelling seasons and teams of our time because they were not on the bandwagon until it was too late. We have a lot of complaints about the corporate buildings, lack of tailgating, reduction in size of the stadium, etc. regarding why people don't show up to games. Other than the lack of ac none of those issues existed yet and we still did not get behind a team in the most important way possible. And more importantly a program that needed the support.
I don't mind giving away tickets, but how do you make sure it gets kids in the seats and doesn't end up with individuals that decide to scalp them to the highest bidder. I already see people on here talking about the opportunity to buy cheaper seats later in the season (when the weather is better) rather than support all ASU sports through buying full price season tickets. When I purchase my tickets, I don't just think about football, but all the other great athletes that it supports.
