Old Man Bidwill wanted an open stadium because he thought that the heat would be a competitive advantage. But the Cardinals consultants talked his son into a domed stadium because every focus group put comfort high on their must lists. The focus groups also tested a variety of seats/leg room to select the optimum digs for the family sections.

Compare that to ASU. Very few people like the seats. All that construction cost could have added much more leg room. Tons of stairs to climb with no escalators. The stadium is still a solar crock pot sitting on top of a hot granite mountain. ASU wasted $300,000,000 to upgrade SDS from a 1958 vintage stadium to a 1970s stadium. It is out of date with another 29 years of investment depreciation on its capital investment.
