The Cardinals wanted to increase attendance and generate a fan base that would support the team during lean years. That was the stated goal of the consulting team and the consultant led design charrettes.
Crow wanted to decrease attendance to convert parking lots into commercial development. The Sports District Masterplan presentation explained no additional roads, despite the additional millions of square feet of office space and condos, as an attempt to encourage the use of bicycles with Tempe. Basically, he does not give a damn about fans or their experience.
Crow is planning to generate sports revenue by collecting a sports fee on every ASU student although only 15-20% attend events and selling $500,000 legacy seats to corporate buyers. So what is my incentive to donate money to the sports department?
