First - I cut the cord this year and have Roku - maybe I didn't search hard enough, but it bummed me out not being able to watch the game, but had great family time.
I was impressed by the game, I don't understand all the "sky is falling" attitudes.yes it is embarrassing to have a freshman backup QB score 28 points on you in the 1st Qtr.... but those were mainly stupid plays. what really hurt was U$C moving the ball at will - but when we did hit them on the line, it was usually for a loss or no gain. ASU's front 6-7-8 what ever are quite fast, in bursts they were faster/quicker than U$C.
AND... our backup freshman QB, once he got his legs under him, had a great night. the kid hasn't been in an actual playing down before that start. Eno, although suffering from a weak line, played really fast. I would rather see him go 4-5 yds up the middle, but he really showed off his speed on Saturday.
These kids are young, and the coaches are trying to figure out in game adjustments on the fly. It sucks if the other guys score in less than 1-2 minutes, because the D can't get warmed up to let CDG know what to adjust.
Get rid of the bone head plays (like the attempted strip by Jones, or the DB that ran in front of the other two DB's on the 90+ yard pass and we win the game. Last year we had a bend don't break capability on D, the opponent could move the ball up and down the field, but we eventually got to 4th down, even if it was inside the 10 yd line. this year, our youth mitigates that, and the bad guys score.
I think we should be 9-0, maybe 8-1... and I take a lot of ribbing at work here in the SEC area... but if CHE can continue to improve recruiting like he has, the future is bright... but I am also getting old.... playing in Gainsville is a game worth going to, I just hope I am not in a wheel chair.
