I don't recall any dropped passes by the Sun Devil receivers. Had they caught this well in prior games, ASU could be the winner of the South Division. So - congrats to the receivers in general, and Daniels for his accuracy.
I don't know why Herbert was "off". 2 int's, poor throws, etc., seemed atypical. I don't recall that ASU's D did anything remarkably different - but perhaps it was just a better, consistent, adherence to the 3 - 3 - 5, with players understanding their roles.
Having said that, there were still lots of areas which need clean up by the ASU D.
One thing that UO does well - and has done well for several years - is downfield blocking. Their bigs get into the next level, but even the receivers. They thrive in chaos, in a commendable way.
Zendejas is/was money. I listened to the broadcast comment that Ruiz left because the staff would not allow him to redshirt. If true, this is a head scratcher. why wouldn't you allow a player to redshirt? I love Zendejas - a legacy walk-on (what is not to like?) - but doesn't everyone have to earn their starting roles each year?
There were references to official and unofficial visits for the game. CHE specifically commented. this game had to make an impression.
Kudos to Channel 15 - following the ABC/ESPN broadcast, Mark May (yes, that Mark May), and Craig Fouhy conducted a review from an "in the stadium" table, overlooking the field. CDG came by for an interview. Really nice for the local press to engage - particularly in light of the AzRep comments below.
What a great win and opportunity to change the overall feeling about this season. CHE in his post game, specifically referenced the players not handling being 5-1 well. (He did not say this - but I kept thinking, "getting caught up in your own hype" applied.) ASU needs to win out, and really set up next season.
