I think the only way that ASU gets to the Holiday Bowl is if Utah gets into the College Football Playoff. That would push ASU up the pecking order for bowls for Pac-12 teams. Right now, I think ASU ends up in one of four bowl games (Holiday, Redbox, Sun, or Cheez-it'z).
If Utah makes the CFP, then they will play in either the Peach, or Fiesta. Oregon would most likely play in the Rose, USC would probably play in the Alamo Bowl, I have a feeling the Redbox Bowl is going to want California in their bowl game, that would leave the Holiday Bowl to select either Washington, or ASU. My best guess is the Holiday would prefer Washington over ASU, but you never know, they may want to select the Sun Devils because of our "popular" head coach, who still has a lot of fans left from his days on the four letter network.
If Utah doesn't make the CFP, then the winner of Utah vs. Oregon goes to the Rose, the loser goes to the Alamo, I think USC would then be selected to the Holiday Bowl. California goes to the Redbox Bowl, the Sun Bowl would then get to pick between Washington and ASU. If the Sun picks Washington, then ASU slides to the Cheez-it'z Bowl. That's my best guesses at this point and time. There are so many Pac-12 teams with 4-5 records in conference that are bowl eligible (Washington, California, and ASU). Go Sun Devils!
