This weekÕs conference championship games should prove to be worth watching. I am ready! I have already loaded the house with chips and salsa and moved my favorite easy chair closer to the TV.
Games like LSU vs Georgia and Utah vs Oregon have national championship playoff implications. If you are a student of the game, all these teams play quality football and are fun to watch. And the teams are evenly matched enough to present a challenge to the odds makers.
Then there is Memphis vs Cincinnati. These teams have produced some highly entertaining contests since Norvell hit town in Memphis. You might miss a TD if you leave the room to reload the chips and salsa.
And then there is David vs Goliath in the Virginia vs Clemson match. Clemson is a whopping 28.5 point favorite. But last week Bryce Perkins had the best game of his career and led Virginia to a win over Virginia Tech to snap a 15 year rivalry losing streak. If I were a betting man, I would take Virginia and the 28.5 points. And if Perkins could manage to pull off a miracle win, think of the bedlam it would cause. Plus Perkins might become the next governor of Virginia on a write in vote.
Finally, with recruiting wrapping up, watch the LSU players. That should be a benchmark for the roster-wide talent we need at ASU. Will the 2020 recruiting class get us on the right path?
