Throws at or near the LOS of scrimmage were down appreciably this year.
And he's a freshman that played well regardless of class. He played at the same level Manny did last year as a 5th year senior. He made very, very few mistakes over the year, while playing behind the worst OL in the conference.
He's being "anointed" because he has earned it. He's better than any freshman that has played QB at ASU. He's better than a lot of dudes that played here in their second, third, etc. years. He is that kind of special. If he didn't improve at all from this year, he'd still be well-above average on his career. The only limiter on his numbers was Likens and/or Edwards. The offense always played better when they Daniels go make plays.
Now, please say something about how the QB competition should be open next year with Yellen, so that I can safely ignore you with extreme prejudice.
