Well put, Don B. I would gladly sign a letter/petition to Asu containing each of your points. For many years my family had season tickets in section 30 under the loge. The past ten years I have taken my boys to games. At one time they had a kids zone, fan day events during the scrimmages at asu for kids, and at Tontozona. Nothing now. Graham had an event after one of the spring scrimmages called the Sun devil experience. 500 kids got to block, take handoffs from the running backs and passes from the qbs. Gone. The tailgates and bands on
The northside, gone. The ramps, gone. There is no continuity or tradition for the kids to become attached to the players, and sadly, Asu football. Every change that eliminates tradition and experiences over time erodes the connectedness of the fan base. Many of us gave up our long time seats and became disenchanted. As the prices continued to rise the experiences and fan appreciation factors diminished. Somehow, someway this needs to solved. My kids have routinely been run off the field by one particular grumpy old guy at Tontozona while seeking autographs...its more important to load the players on the bus than to interact with their many young burgeoning fans. Getting a young child to Tontozona early in the am is not for the faint of heart fan, I can attest. There needs to be a recognition of the importance of tradition, events and community in the program, within and without. I first went to a game when I was four, a long time ago. I love sun devil football and really hope that your comments and those of the many great fans here are taken to heart by ASU.
