I forget what HC said it, but more games are won 2 years before kickoff at kitchen tables than are won in the coachesÕ planning sessions. Why? Because superior talent can make any plan work.
I see ASU now sitting at the right kitchen tables. Quality QBs, RBs, DBs and WRs see ASU as a viable option. But we still need to create a breakthrough with champion size linemen. Looking at the LSU roster, I see line depth charts depicting
OTs at 324, 328, 325, 327, 310, 305
OGs at 347, 345, 340, 356, 355, 320
DTs at 376, 372, 305, 305, 331, 292, 290
DEs at 308, 309, 299, 298
I truly hope Edwards finds a way of adding size to the lines. We are never going to be able to compete with the top tier teams without upgrading our linemen. Will ASU ever display this sort of size on its lines? I do not know. But I do know that a pair of athletic 340 lbs OGs can elevate an Offensive Coordinator from smart to brilliant.
