I would target every troubled program with deep-pocketed boosters around the country. I won't name programs (except one) here but there are plenty in trouble.
CTG is a turnaround specialist. Some may not like his methods but the guy's a proven winner and restorer of discipline and structure. His contract should be for three years and he should command huge money for that short of a time-say, $5MM per year guaranteed. Then the school can go look for their ideal candidate to come in and take over a stable program. This is out of the box thinking but it's definitely worth considering.
When Erickson was fired, ASU football was on the verge of losing scholarships due to the lack of control and all the players in trouble there. CTG fixed that.
I hate to say this but U of A needs a guy like CTG but U of A is too arrogant to ever lower itself to take a coach who was fired by their inferior in state rivals.
I don't know if this is CTG's mindset but he is a good man, a hard worker and he has proven the ability to add stability to large unstable programs. I know I am proposing something radical here but it's no different than investors buying failing companies and turning them around to profitability again. CTG has a skillset that gives him the ability to turn programs around.
