I agree completely with PhiDevil on this subject. An athletic scholarship is nothing more than a contract between the school and the player. The school agrees to provide an education (hopefully culminating in a degree), room and board; the player agrees to represent the school as a participant in intercollegiate athletics. Both parties benefit.
An academic scholarship is a contract also. Try retaining your academic scholarship by deciding to sit out finals this semester.
