We have to give them a reason to be involved with the Sun Devils. It has to start young. Waiting until they are a budding star in High School won't cut it with most. To them we are little different than any other team that they see on TV on Saturdays (or Thursdays or Fridays).

At one time, we ruled local recruits. Part of that was that we won -- a lot. That will help now as well if/when it happens.

But a bigger reason, imho, was that we got kids out to see the games. Back in my day, elementary/Jr High students got into Sun Devil games for next to nothing. We became ardent fans beginning in 2nd or 3rd grades.

One of the big things they could do would be to have seminars/workshops with Pop Warner teams. Get players out there working with the kids. Get the kids to know players/Coaches from a very early age.

That's just one example. But the point is to get kids thinking of themselves as Sun Devils as early as possible.

It seems so simple and maybe its an NCAA no-no but that seems to me to be a no brainer with only positive results.

But the first thing is to just win. That will help.
