However, if Alabama or Oregon had to depend greatly on their in-state recruiting, they would be in a world of hurt. Those numbers where Arizona was 10 with 9 would put both those states (I would imagine) below Arizona. They require national recruiting to be relevant. National recruiting requires $$$. That's how Alabama and Oregon stay in the game without a deep-sized Olympic pool of talent in their own backyard. Phoenix, on the other hand, because of its current and future size (and weather for training) will continue to be a growing recruiting stop for talent. Right now, we our the only school that can call it our "backyard". We just need to continue building a better fence! If we can move up our relevancy through winning, we have a better chance of establishing something with some longevity than these other schools without their own deep backyard in my opinion.
