Good question. Here are some that come to my mind:

1973 Fiesta Bowl ASU 28 Pittsburgh 7. Many people remember this as a good win for ASU, but it was ugly. ASU turned it over 4 times, Pittsburgh turned it over 8 times. Brutal football with 12 total turnovers. ASU held a 10-7 lead going to the 4th quarter, then the Sun Devils scored 3 touchdowns, and Danny Kush (ASU's kicker) missed all three extra points...UGLY football.

1988 ASU 24 Lamar 13 ASU was two seasons removed from winning the Rose Bowl. Into Tempe comes subdivision Lamar University. ASU struggles with the Cardinals for the entire game. The Sun Devils hold a slim 17-13 lead, Lamar has the ball inside their own 20 yard line, with less than 2 minutes to go in the game. ASU's defense has Lamar in a 4th and something like 15 yards to go for a first down. Lamar goes for it and throws an incomplete pass. ASU takes over and instead of taking a knee and Coach Marmie decides to try to score another touchdown. ASU drives something like 12 yards for a touchdown run. ASU wins 24-13 in a game that was much closer than it should've been.

2003 ASU 26 Utah State 16 This game was really ugly, filled with turnovers, penalties, missed extra points, etc. It was one of those games that when it's over, your just glad ASU came out on top.

2019 ASU 19 Sacramento State 7 This game was closer than it should've been. The Sun Devils fumbled the football literally on the goal line, that was recovered in the end zone by the Hornets. It looked like the ASU running back, who has fumble-itis, had possession of the football when he hit the goal line, but the Pac-12 referee called it a fumble, and the replay stuck with the call, even though it looked like he had possession of the ball when it hit the goal line. Also, ASU had another touchdown called back when a receiver blocked some Sacramento State defender 20 yards behind the play. ASU held a slim 12-7 lead with about 5 minutes to go in the game, when Jayden Daniels dropped back to pass on a 3rd & 8 from his own 22 yard line, he checked it down to Eno Benjamin who was wide open, and took it for a touchdown on a 78 yard pass play. ASU held on to beat Sacramento State 19-7 in an ugly win.

So, while the Sun Bowl win over Florida State was ugly, there have been other ugly wins over the years. I'm sure I've forgotten one, or two in the last 49 years (I've also been watching since 1970). Go Sun Devils!
