I grew up at the beach in OC. Always got a kick out of all the tourists that showed up in June thinking it was summer, having to wait until 3PM before the marine layer burned off.

That is what happens when hot air and cold water mix. Great in July & August out there once the water warms up, marine layer fades away, but prefer AZ most of the rest of the year personally.

As a local, I used to just plan errands, work outs, etc in AM, hit the beach in the afternoon during that time of year.

I moved around a lot with my career & spent 4 years in the SF Bay Area too. Even worse. Foggy & cold all summer in "The City". Summer arrives in October, much to the disappointment of summer visitors.
