I'm not against more testing, or doing samples in each population, like Stanford is, to get a better idea of the infection rate/denominator and resultant death rate.
However, obviously, if you test more, you get more infection numbers, as you test people with light or no symptoms, as stated in the Maricopa link.
As a result, looking at the number of hospitalizations by day is a more useful number to measure how the state is doing.
As far an agenda, it is the only way I can explain why some in the media would focus on numbers that are obviously misleading. Dunno, maybe they just do not understand increased testing skews infection numbers. It is very odd.
