I don't hate them more than COVID, nor would you if someone you love had passed away from it. I can't even say that I hate the uofa. I do have a deep and abiding loathing for several things about it but that doesn't really extend to the University as a whole.
I think that this stems from growing up in an agricultural environment and being active in 4-H and FFA. I spent a lot of time on the uofa campus during my teenage years and enjoyed my time a lot. My father finished his degree there as ASTC was a teachers' college at the time and Papa had no intention of becoming a teacher. My brother (yes, THAT brother) also has two degrees from there. Again, he transferred from ASU due to his field of study being much better at the uofa then and now. I even thought of going to school there myself but thankfully never did. That wouldn't have changed my allegences and certainly did not change John's.
But there are several things about the uofa that really piss me off.
The arrogance and superiority complex that many students, alumni and supporters have.
Their athletic teams.
Their constant attempts to keep their thumbs on ASU to keep us from moving forward. I am old enough to remember the campaign in 1958 to allow ASU to become a University. Subsequent attempts to allow ASU to add colleges of Law, Medicine and other prestigious schools. They even wanted to rename us the University of Arizona at Tempe.
To name just a few.
But to hate everything about the uofa, Naaah!
